20 YEARS OF BIKE 4 BURNS

Riding for something bigger

For 20 years, Bike 4 Burns has brought together riders from the Queensland Fire Department and wider emergency services community to support children affected by burns injuries.

Since launching in 2006, the annual charity ride has raised more than $1 million for the Children’s Hospital Foundation, helping fund burns research, equipment, treatment and family support services at Queensland Children’s Hospital.

At Yakima, we’re proud to have supported the ride for more than five years - backing an initiative that makes a real impact for Queensland kids and their families.

The 2026 ride

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the 2026 Bike 4 Burns ride will see participants tackle a massive 700–1000km journey over seven days, riding from Bundaberg to Queensland Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane from 12–18 May 2026.

Each day brings long kilometres, challenging conditions, and plenty of determination -all in support of young burns patients across Queensland.

The final ride into Queensland Children’s Hospital is always one of the most powerful moments of the event, bringing together riders, families, hospital staff, sponsors and supporters.

Supporting life-changing care

Last year alone, Queensland Children’s Hospital treated more than 1150 children for burns injuries, with over a third requiring surgery.

Funds raised through Bike 4 Burns help support:
•    Burns research and treatment advancements
•    Critical medical equipment
•    Patient recovery programs
•    Support services for children and families

The event also shines a light on the resilience of young burns survivors and the importance of ongoing care and recovery support.

Why it matters

Behind every kilometre ridden is a child, a family, and a recovery journey that can last years.

Bike 4 Burns continues to help fund better outcomes for young burns patients across Queensland - supporting world-class treatment, recovery and research that is changing lives.

And after 20 years, the ride continues to prove what community can achieve when people come together for a cause bigger than themselves.
